With Christ as our head and worship at our heart, we reach out in love to each other and to our community. We want to extend our educational opportunities more broadly and meet more of the 60% of our fellow citizens who have no church to call home. We are going to try new methods.
Service Members serve those in need and demonstrate their faith outside of St. Peter’s. We have a solid history of social concerns activities, including fundrais-ing and partnerships with other churches to meet community needs. This is the gospel in action. We are going to act together.
Worship Our cathedral has a great love of heritage. We have a traditional wor-ship style but are open to exploring new ways. Older members of our congrega-tion are loved not only for their current involvement but also for their knowledge of the church’s past and their vision for the future. Everyone is concerned about the limited number of active families. We are going to pray and celebrate.
Education Members of the church desire opportunities to learn and grow spiritu-ally. Our elder members have utilized these offerings the most. Some working-age adults have expressed interest in a Bible Study or lecture series. Our Youth group for students in 5th through 12th grades has been growing for the last cou-ple of years. However, our Godly Play program for students aged 4 to 11 has fallen off in the last year or two and will need attention. We are going to learn and teach.
Evangelism St. Peter’s knows that change is constant and to be welcomed as a needed challenge. We do a good job welcoming those who visit us but we are shy about self promotion. New young members and families will bring new per-spectives and expectations. This may impact our music, our mission, our technol-ogy and our sense of purpose. Change is the perfect counter balance to our love of tradition. We are going to connect and collaborate.
Pastoral care The men of the church prepare a pancake breakfast once a month from October to April. The proceeds benefit the Social Concerns Committee and the events give those who might not be able to afford a meal out a nice treat. About half of our members are involved with our Foyers supper clubs. Our parish picnic is well attended and we are inventing new events. We are going to find other ways to draw people together.
